  • Sai Praneeth lost the place to a lower ranking player of Israel
  • Misha Zilberman turned out to be more prepared for the match.

Despite India’s victory in several games in the Tokyo Olympics, Sai Praneeth could not fulfill the hopes of the nation in the badminton championship. He was the only Indian entrant who had been selected for the men’s singles badminton match in the Tokyo Olympics. However, he faced a shocking defeat by an Israeli player who is at a much lower rank than he is. He lost in his debut match to Misha Zilberman in under 42 minutes with the set values 17-21, 15-21. Misha is presently at 47th rank all over the world. This is the second time that the two players have faced each other. Their first match took place in the 2021 Swiss Open. Sai had been victorious in that match.

Aggression Of Misha Against Sai Praneeth

Misha had been quite aggressive from the very beginning of the game. He did not let Sai Praneeth take any advantage and even picked up some new racquet skills in order to surprise Sai in this match. He was quite efficient in his longer rallies and had greater patience in the field. He took advantage of every mistake made by Sai Praneeth. He had also mixed up his smash shots with some greatly deceiving drop shots. Sai seemed mostly confused at the exemplary skills shown by Misha.

Progressive Nature Of The Match

It seemed that the win in the first set had given Misha a huge amount of confidence. He raced up to the 11-7 lead. He seemed to be far superior and powerful in the match. He was in control and the shuttle was mostly in his possession during the entire match. Misha also seemed to be more focused on winning the match. It was indicated that the match will go in favor of Misha because Sai had already made 2 mistakes in his judgment and apparently made no effort to overcome the issue. This became the decisive factor in the entire match and finally led Misha to the win.
