  • Coronavirus pandemic has returned to India in the second wave
  • Double masks are suggested for older citizens and those who suffer from comorbid diseases.

As the cases are rising in India, governments have started to recommend all to wear masks in the households too. Scientists suspect that the disease has become airborne, which is leading to rapid spread. Most doctors are now prescribing stringent rules to wear masks even in the internal environments.

Reasons To Wear Masks Everywhere

It is perceived that the covid-19 virus is being spread among the masses through droplet transmission. The virus usually spreads from one person to another through air transmission. Whenever someone coughs or sneezes in front of you, you will have the risk of infection if he or she is affected. The droplets released from coughing or sneezing can land on your body and consequently enter your respiratory system.

A large population of India has not been affected till now, but most of us may be asymptomatic carriers of the disease. The coronavirus can spread from one person to another by standing near if one of them is the carrier. It can be avoided if we wear masks.

Why Is The Second Wave Significant?

The covid second wave has turned out to be devastating for India. The symptoms have changed their pattern and have resulted mostly in shortness of breath. Severe symptoms are now visible in every age group.

To wear masks is not intended simply for the infected person but for those who might be affected. Masks are intended for breaking the chain of contamination between one person and another. The elderly generation and the ones who also suffer from comorbid diseases are at the highest risk. It is better to wear masks for everyone’s protection.

Wear Masks

The only way to stop the coronavirus pandemic is to break the chain of contamination which is occurring very rapidly in the second wave. Presently there are several states, which are greatly affected by the virus. Mask wearing must be made mandatory in these states to prevent the further spread of infection.

Statement By The CDC

The United States Control for pests and diseases announced that elderly people need to wear masks whenever they are coming in contact with anyone other than their family members. It means that even if a stranger or your relative comes to meet you at your home, you have to wear a mask to prevent infection in your family.

The CDC has also encouraged most people to stay away from each other at least by a distance of six meters to reduce the rate of contamination. The virus cannot travel this distance even if the person is coughing or sneezing. However, mask-wearing is made mandatory in every household of America to prevent the spread of infection in every household.

Wearing Masks Indoors

The government of India has urged all of its citizens to wear double masks in indoor situations too to avoid the usual transmission of the disease. Right now, the best we can do is follow these guidelines and never leave our houses in the absence of masks. Only this way can we hope to conquer the virus in the future.
