The Haryana government has already taken some stringent measures to silence the voice of dissent from the farmers over the last few months. Now they have issued a ban on the gathering of people in the Karnal Mahapanchayat, planned by the farmers’ leaders at the mini-secretariat. The administrative authorities have imposed Section 144 of CrPC, which prohibits the gathering of 5 or more people. Traffic advisory has also been regulated by arranging for route diversions. The mobile internet services will also have some restrictions till 7th September in the Karnal district of Haryana.

According to the news, the Karnal Mahapanchayat had been organized in order to condemn the lathi charge on the farmers on 28th August. The Samyukt Kisan Morcha had already voiced their threats against the government in case their demands are not met in a democratic manner.

The umbrella platform has informed that the farmers intend to hold a peaceful protest in the New Anaj Mandi of Karnal. They have announced that the large group of farmers may lay siege to the mini-secretariat in Karnal. Their demands include proper action against the IAS officer who had ordered the lathi charge on protesting farmers on 28th August. The farmers have also demanded compensation for the death of fellow farmer Sushila Kajal who lost his life in the lathi charge.
