The Delhi Metro Contactless QR Ticket

Reading Time: 2 minutes

The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) will soon implement the Delhi Metro Contactless QR Ticket system. This enhanced contactless ticketing system is based on a new method known as near-field communication (NFC), which allows smartphones to function as Metro smart cards. Apart from smart cards, customers will be able to pay for their rides via card payments, near-field contact, QR code-based ticketing cell devices, and paper QR tickets. This service is presently only offered in the Capital on the Airport Express Line.

During the fourth phase, the DMRC will install automated fee machines (AFC) at 44 Metro stations in Delhi. AFC gates currently placed at the present station will also be modified.

To get access, commuters must bring their smartphone close to the automated fare collecting (AFC) barrier. When the gadget is touched or in close vicinity to the phone, it will begin radio connection with the AFC gate.

How To Use A QR Code To Order Tickets

  • According to DMRC authorities, commuters must first download the ‘Ridlr’ application on their smartphone
  • Then, register your credentials, which include your cell number, name, and email address.
  • Customers may then buy QR tickets by selecting the beginning point of the route and the destination station, as well as the number of passengers, after logging into the app.

Maximum Number Of Tickets That May Be Purchased At Once?

At any one moment, a consumer with a single Paytm or Ridlr account may only purchase or possess one Trip Pass.

Will Card Reloading Tokens Be Available?

The token service has been stopped by DMRC as a result of the pandemic. The capabilities for recharging cards via self-operating devices and customer service, on the other hand, will be available.

Conclusion

Last year, the pandemic forced the shutdown of Delhi Metro services for over six months. After the Center authorized Metro operations to restart in September in a phased way, with obligatory safeguards such as social distance and sanitization inside trains and on stations, the transporter began its service. Delhi Metro Contactless QR Ticket system is also an approach that will help reduce the chances of infection in the future.
